dark bird he hasn't heard
another crow caw cuz he's all alone
black crow what do you know?
what have you seen going on below?
big sigh up in the sky
sail on wings where the wind blows
well the geese make a "v" in the sky
but he makes a period
now he's perched in a tree way up high
and looking so serious
where will you go now?
do you even know how to live alone?
this bird has flown now
and he's off to a path where seed was sown.

I'm alright with riding in the backseat
watching the world unfold outside
life so fast it feels like a track meet
so i'm alright if you want to drive
buckle up like mom and dad would say
the windows only went down half the way
fall asleep because you know you're safe
looking back i see i miss those days
boulevards and backroads in my town
were brushstrokes on a canvas as my folks drove around
the nineties played their old familiar sounds
and nothing really seemed to slow us down.
